so ive been flying for about 2 years just as a hobby and finally decided to try and go legit and make some side income doing real estate photos. signed up for the part 107 test and its in like 3 weeks and honestly the airspace classification stuff is melting my brain. i get the basic concept but when it gets into the actual sectional chart reading and figuring out what class airspace youre in at a given altitude near an airport... i dont know, something isnt clicking. been using the Tony Northrup course on youtube and some Sporty's stuff. anybody have a good way to remember which airspace requires what? or is the actual test not as bad as im making it out to be in my head

the test honestly wasnt that bad for me, spent maybe 3 weeks studying and passed with an 85. the airspace thing clicked when i stopped trying to memorize lists and just started practicing with actual sectional charts ? like the FAA has free ones you can download and just zoom around looking at airports and training yourself to identify whats what. the shaded rings around airports are your friend once you just spend time staring at them. also the practice tests on prepware are really close to the real thing, closer than most of the youtube courses i think. do like 200 practice questions and youll start seeing the same concepts repeat. weather minimums for VFR was the other thing that tripped me up early but same deal, just rep the questions until your brain accepts it.

i took mine last year and was also freaking out about sectionals lol. what helped me was just going on skyvector.com and pulling up whatever airspace i was curious about and zooming in. honestly the test questions tend to be pretty specific like "youre at this location at 1200 feet AGL, what airspace are you in" type stuff. just get good at reading the chart legend and youre most of the way there. one thing i wish i studied more was the weather and TFR stuff, had a few questions on that i wasnt totally confident on
