firmware update bricked my remote or something, OSD is all wrong now

  • Members

not sure if bricked is the right word but something is definitely off. updated the RC2 firmware yesterday through DJI Fly, it said it completed successfully, restarted everything and now the OSD telemetry on screen is showing the wrong units i think and my RTH altitude keeps resetting to like 30m every time i power cycle even though ive set it higher. also the video feed seems slightly more laggy than before but that might be in my head

ive tried the obvious stuff, relinked the drone, powered off and on a bunch of times. anyone else get this after the update that dropped this week or is it just me. should i try rolling back or does DJI even let you do that anymore

DJI doesn't let you roll back officially which is super annoying. but the RTH altitude thing resetting sounds like your settings just didn't carry over from the update, try going through all your safety settings manually and re-entering them even if they look correct, sometimes the values display right but aren't actually saved properly until you touch them again. happened to me after an update on my Air 2S a while back

the units thing might just be a display setting that got defaulted, check under units in the app settings not the drone settings, theres two places it can be set and they can get out of sync somehow

yeah the lag thing is probably not in your head, there was a thread on the DJI forums about the RC2 video latency being slightly worse on this firmware. some people are saying its a tradeoff for some encoding change they made but nobody really knows. i noticed it too and its not dramatic but its there if you're paying attention

honestly at this point i wait like 2-3 weeks before updating anything unless theres an actual feature i need or a safety fix. let other people find the bugs first lol. lesson learned the hard way after the update last spring that messed up obstacle avoidance sensitivity on my unit for like a month before a patch came out
