so ive been studying for about 6 weeks now and i think im ready but honestly not sure. been using the prepware app and some youtube videos, went through the FAA study guide PDF twice. the sectional chart stuff is what kills me, like i understand the basics but when they throw a random chart excerpt at you in the question i freeze up a bit.

anyone remember what the actual test is like? i know its 60 questions and you need a 70 to pass but i dont know how hard the questions are compared to practice tests. some of the practice stuff i find online feels way harder than other stuff and i cant tell whats actually representative of the real exam. also do they give you scratch paper? i feel like ill need it for the math questions

the scratch paper thing ? yes they give you a laminated sheet and a marker at most testing centers, or sometimes just regular scratch paper. dont worry about that part.

honestly the real test felt easier than the prepware questions to me, but i think that depends on luck of the draw with which questions you get. the sectional stuff is worth spending extra time on, you were right to flag that. just know your airspace classes cold, like really cold ? class B C D surface areas, what you need to enter each one, that kind of thing. if you can do that in your sleep the chart questions become way less scary because you're just identifying what you're looking at rather than trying to remember rules on the fly.

also dont overthink the weather questions, they always feel more complicated than they are

i passed mine like two months ago and genuinely think the prepware app is the best thing out there for it. i did every single question in there at least twice and felt pretty solid going in. got an 85 i think. the test isnt trying to trick you the way some practice questions do, most of it is pretty straightforward if you know the material.
