dji o3 prebuilts vs analog prebuilts at the same price ? is o3 actually worth it anymore

ok so this has been bugging me for a while and i keep going in circles on it. if you look at like the 300-350 dollar range for prebuilt 5inch quads you can either get something with an analog stack and a decent vtx or you can stretch maybe 50 bucks more and get into the lower end o3 prebuilts. and i know o3 is objectively better image quality and the latency is fine for most people but hear me out.

for someone whos already invested in fatshark HDO2 goggles and an analog setup, the jump to o3 means new goggles too or the o3 air unit on a quad and then the goggles 2 and suddenly youre talking about a completely different budget conversation. and if you crash it, which you will, you're potentially crashing something way more expensive.

i feel like the analog vs digital argument has kind of shifted and i'm not sure where the community actually lands on this these days. some of my buddies at the field are all in on digital and act like analog is basically obsolete, and then i'll watch someone rip analog and it looks totally fine on their screen. maybe im just looking for permission to stay analog idk

stay analog if the ecosystem you have already works for you, thats genuinely my take. o3 is great but it's not going to make you a better pilot and if you're not already miserable with your current go

stay analog if the ecosystem you have already works for you, thats genuinely my take. o3 is great but it's not going to make you a better pilot and if you're not already miserable with your current goggles there's no urgency. the guys acting like analog is dead are mostly just justifying their own purchases imo. i switched to digital last year and i love it but i also started fresh, i didnt have a fat shark setup to walk away from

the prebuilt angle of this is interesting though because a lot of the o3 prebuilts like the ones from flywoo or iflight have gotten pretty compettitive on price since last year. i picked up an o3 unit on a used quad for almost nothing because the previous owner stripped the frame. worth keeping an eye on the secondhand market if you're curious about the image quality difference without going all in.

that said yeah the goggles situation is real. avatar/goggles 2 is not cheap and i wouldnt blame anyone for sticking with what they have. the gap in actual flight experience between a tuned analog setup and o3 is probably smaller than the youtube content would have you believe
