Common misconception alert: Pointing antennas directly at your drone does NOT improve signal strength. Signal waves propagate parallel to antenna direction, so position the radiative surface facing toward the drone during flight.

Proper setup checklist:

  • Antennas should be parallel to each other and perpendicular to your flying drone
  • Mount omnidirectional antennas vertically for best horizontal coverage. Use 45-degree angles for circular polarized antennas to reduce multipath interference
  • Keep antennas away from carbon fiber frames, ESCs, and batteries - these components block or reflect signals

This setup has consistently given me optimal range and signal quality across multiple DJI platforms.
