firmware update bricked my RC ? or did it??

  • Members

ok so this is a weird one. updated the firmware on my air 2s yesterday through the DJI fly app, the update said it completed fine, restarted everything like normal and now the RC just shows a solid yellow light and wont connect to the aircraft at all. tried turning it off and on about fifteen times, tried different cables, tried unpairing and repairing.

what i cant tell is if the controller actually got bricked during the update or if something else is going on. the aircraft itself powers on fine and shows up in the app when i connect via my phone directly, so its definitely the RC that has the issue. DJI assistant 2 doesnt even see the controller when i plug it in to my laptop which is the part thats really got me worried.

has anyone seen this before or am i looking at sending this thing back. bought it refurbished so warranty situation is a bit murky.

yellow solid light on DJI controllers usually means its stuck in a boot loop or the firmware flash didnt fully complete. before you panic try holding the power button for like 9-10 seconds until it force shuts off, then plug it into your laptop via USB while its off and see if assistant 2 picks it up in that state. sometimes it shows up as a recovery device when it wont show up normally. from there you can try forcing a firmware reflash through the software.

ive seen this happen a couple times on the RC-N1 specifically after partial updates, usually recoverable. worst case DJI support has a repair service but yeah the refurb warranty thing is gonna be the annoying part of that conversation.

this is exactly why i wait like two weeks after any firmware drops before updating. let other people find out if its gonna cause problems first. i know thats not helpful right now but genuinely just dont update day one anymore, especially through the fly app ? assistant 2 on desktop feels more reliable to me for firmware stuff. hope you get it sorted, the force shutdown trick the other guy mentioned is probably your best shot before contacting support.
