so i was scrolling through my feed this morning and saw DJI announced something new, cant remember the exact name but its in the mini lineup and supposedly has some updated obstacle avoidance which honestly the older minis really needed. anyone else see this? im still on my Mini 3 Pro and been debating whether its worth jumping on whatever this is or just wait and see how the reviews shake out over the next few weeks.

also side note ? has anyone been keeping up with the FAA stuff lately? i saw something about remote ID enforcement actually starting to get more serious but i dont know if thats just people on reddit being dramatic or if theres actually something happening on that front. feels like every few months someone says enforcement is ramping up and then nothing really changes for recreational flyers at least in my area.

yeah saw the announcement too, the obstacle avoidance upgrade looks real based on what the beta testers were posting. from what i can tell its a side sensor improvement mainly, the Mini 3 Pro already had front and rear but the sides were basically blind. whether thats worth an upgrade depends a lot on where you fly i guess ? if youre doing anything near trees or in tighter spaces it probably matters more than open field stuff.

on the remote ID thing, i actually got a heads up from my local flying club that our FSDO sent some communication about increased spot checks at popular flying sites. so maybe not just reddit noise this time. worth having your remote ID module squared away just in case, even if the odds of anything happening are still pretty low for most of us.

im still on a Mini 2 so like anything newer sounds amazing to me lol. does the new one still have the same controller or did they change that too? i always get confused when they release new drones whether my existing controller will work or i have to buy the whole combo again. that stuff adds up fast
