keep getting gated at regionals, not sure if its my setup or just me

ran my third regional comp last weekend and honestly thought i had a decent shot at getting out of the heats this time but kept dropping places on the technical sections. my lap times in practice are pretty competitive but when it actually matters i just fall apart on tight corners. running a 5inch on 6s, f7 stack, 2306 motors at around 2450kv, tunes pretty solid or at least i thought it was

not totally sure if its the tune, the rates, maybe my goggle setup or just nerves. do any of you guys run significantly different rates or tune settings for competition vs just bashing around? i feel like maybe i have too much stick sensitivity and im overcorrecting when the pressure is on but i dont really know how to dial that back without making the whole thing feel sluggish. any thoughts appreciated, getting a little frustrated with this plateau

honestly sounds more like a mental thing than a setup thing if your practice times are there. a lot of guys including myself had this exact problem and its almost never the tune. what helped me was doing a lot of sim time on the actual style of course ? like not just freestyling in liftoff but running gate setups that mimic the track layout. muscle memory under pressure is different from just knowing the course

that said if you genuinely feel like youre overcorrecting, try dropping your RC rate a little on pitch and roll and see if it calms down without losing the snap you need. dont change it right before an event though, give yourself a few sessions to get used to it. 2450kv on 6s for 5inch is pretty hot, what props are you on? sometimes going a tooth or two smaller helps tighten the handling feel without losing top speed

i had something similar and for me it turned out my goggles werent quite dialed in, like the IPD was slightly off and i never noticed until i swapped to a borrowed pair at a race and suddenly the depth perception felt totally different. might be worth checking that if you havent already, its one of those things that sounds minor but it adds up on really tight gates
