So ive been flying the Avata for about 8 months now with the original goggles v2 and honestly pretty happy with the setup but everyone keeps telling me to get the goggles 2 for the better FOV and clarity. My main thing is I do a lot of low light flying ? sunset stuff, flying through woods in the evening, that kind of thing. The v2 goggles work fine but theres definitely moments where the feed gets muddy and i lose depth perception on obstacles.

Anyone actually switched from v2 to goggles 2 specifically for the Avata and not the FPV drone? Curious if the micro OLED panels make a real difference in those conditions or if im just convincing myself I need new gear again. Also does the head tracking feel noticeably better with goggles 2 or is that more of a marginal thing

Made exactly this switch about 4 months ago and yeah the micro OLED is genuinely better in low light, not like night and day but the contrast improvement is real. You stop second guessing yourself on obstacles which is the main thing. The FOV bump also helps more than I expected ? felt a bit claustrophobic going back to try the v2 at a friends place recently.

Head tracking on goggles 2 feels snappier to me but honestly I cant tell you if thats a latency thing or just the better display making everything feel more responsive. Probably a bit of both. If you fly in low light a lot id say its worth it, if you were mostly doing bright midday stuff id probably say save the money.

i went the other direction and sold the avata to get a proper freestyle setup so take this with a grain of salt but when i had it the goggles 2 combo was noticeably better for obstacle avoidance flying, the image just pops more. the v2 always felt a little washed out to me
