Air 3 hyperlapse modes ? am i missing something or is it just limited?

  • Members

so ive been messing around with the hyperlapse modes on my Air 3 for the past few weeks and something feels off compared to what i was expecting. like the circle and free modes work fine but the asteroid and boomerang options seem to just... not cooperate half the time. it either says the lighting conditions arent suitable or it just cancels mid sequence without any real explanation.

also not sure if im supposed to set the interval manually or let it decide, because sometimes the footage comes out super choppy even when i shoot in good light around golden hour. ive got it set to 4K and im using a 16GB card which should be fine right? just feels like im fighting the thing more than flying it

anyone else had this or figured out a workaround? would really appreciate any pointers because the regular timelapse stuff looks incredible when it works

yeah the asteroid mode is weirdly picky about altitude and surrounding scenery, it basically needs a clear horizon and decent contrast to lock on properly. i had the same issue for ages until i started launching from somewhere elevated with a wide open view. also make sure youre not too close to trees or structures when it starts the sequence or it just bails

the interval thing ? honestly just leave it on auto unless you specifically want a certain output length, manual can get weird especially if the wind picks up mid shot and the drone has to compensate. the choppiness youre seeing might actually be a card speed issue too, 16GB is fine for size but if its a slow write speed card the buffer gets backed up. worth checking if its a U3 rated card or just a basic one

omg i had the exact same thing happen last weekend, boomerang just stopped halfway and i lost the whole sequence. i think mine was a wind thing though because it was gustier than it looked. i didnt even know about the card speed thing that the other person mentioned, gonna check mine now because i just grabbed whatever card was on sale lol
