so ive been flying a phantom 4 pro for like 3 years and im seriously considering picking up an evo 2 pro, mostly because the no-fly-zone thing is way less restrictive and also i want that 6k camera for some real estate stuff im starting to do on the side. but honestly i dont know anyone in my area who flies autel so i cant really get any firsthand opinions. most of what i find online feels like sponsored content or something.

my main questions are around the sky autonomy stuff ? like how does it actually perform in real world use, not the marketing version. and does the autel explorer app actually hold up or is it buggy. ive had zero issues with the dgo app on the phantom so i kind of have high expectations there. also curious if the smart controller is worth the extra money or if most people just use their phone

been flying the evo 2 pro for about a year and a half now and honestly it's a solid bird. the camera is genuinely excellent, colors out of the box are warmer than what you're used to from phantom but thats not necessarily bad, just different. autel log mode is really good for grading if you shoot in it.

sky autonomy is fine for most stuff but i wouldnt rely on it the way i did with phantom's obstacle avoidance ? it can be a little slow to react and ive had a couple moments where i had to take over manually. not dangerous situations but just noticeable. the explorer app has gotten way better in recent updates, it was genuinely rough like 18 months ago but now its pretty stable on my samsung s22. one crash in a year of heavy use which isnt bad.

smart controller is nice but honestly its not a must-have if you have a decent phone. the screen brightness is the main advantage in bright sunlight. i went without it for 8 months and was fine

oh also meant to mention ? the ND filters that come in the fly more combo are actually decent quality unlike some other brands where they're basically garbage. the 64 and 128 are the ones i actually use regularly for the real estate stuff, keeps the shutter where it needs to be in bright conditions
