Nazgul vs Chimera ? anyone actually compared these back to back

  • Members

been going back and forth on this for a couple weeks. i have budget for one 5inch prebuilt and keep landing on either the Iflight Nazgul Evoque or the Flywoo Nixe / Chimera depending on which version people mean when they say Chimera. the specs look similar on paper and both seem to have okay reviews but review videos are all kind of surface level and nobody actually talks about how they fly after 10 packs.

specifically care about durability of the frame and how much tuning you actually need to do to get it feeling good. i dont mind spending time in betaflight but i dont want to be fighting a fundamentally broken tune either. also running DJI O3 so compatibility matters but i think both support it? just want a sanity check from someone who has actual hours on either of these

had a Chimera4 not a 5inch so grain of salt but the Flywoo stuff generally flies better stock than I expected for the price. frame is decent but the arms are a weak point, cracked one on a medium speed gate miss which is annoying. they do ship with a spare arm sometimes though. tune needed some work on the filtering side, stock was a bit heavy on filters and felt sluggish, once i lightened it up it was way more responsive. O3 fit fine with a bit of careful cable routing.

im probably not the most objective here because im pretty deep into the iflight ecosystem but ive put maybe 30+ packs through my Evoque now and havent had any frame issues. the stock tune is okayish, i woundup changing my rates immediately because defaults felt slow but the pid base wasnt bad. the motor temps after a long session were higher than i liked on hot days so just keep an eye on that. honestly either one is gonna need you to actually learn betaflight a bit to get the most out of it, theyre not just plug and fly magic
