my tune feels floaty doing splits and rolls, what am i missing

so ive been flying freestyle for maybe 8 months now and i cant get my quad to feel snappy doing split s maneuvers, it just kind of floats through them instead of snapping hard. running betaflight 4.4 on a 5inch with 2306 motors, rates are already pretty aggressive i think. tried bumping D term a bit but honestly not sure if i made it worse or better. any ideas what to look at first

D term is probably not your issue tbh, floaty on splits usually means your P is too low or your rates are set up in a way that bleeds too fast at the end of the stick input. what does your actual rate profile look like, like the expo and center sensitivity numbers? also are you running RPM filter or not because that changes everything with how aggressive you can go on P without oscillations

i had the exact same thing on my last build, ended up being my throttle curve was way too linear and it was killing the punch i needed to snap through the maneuver. tried adding a little mid throttle boost in the motor output curve and it helped a lot more than i expected. might not be your thing but worth a look before you go deep into the pid rabbit hole
