firmware update bricked my air 3 gimbal or at least thats what it feels like

okay so this is frustrating. updated to the latest firmware last night - the one that dropped a few days ago - and now my gimbal is doing this weird thing where it initializes fine on startup, does its little calibration wiggle, but then during flight it keeps drifting left like maybe 2-3 degrees and no amount of gimbal calibration in the app is fixing it. tried three times now.

its not a crash thing the drone has never been crashed. was flying totally normally before the update. i did the update through dji fly on my phone and it seemed to go fine, no errors reported. now i have a job saturday and im kind of panicking a little bit here. anyone seen this with the recent firmware or is my gimbal just coincidentally dying at the worst possible time

had something similar after a firmware push on my mavic 3 classic a while back, not the exact same symptom but close enough. what worked for me was doing a full IMU calibration not just the gimbal - i know it sounds unrelated but something about the sensor fusion getting out of whack after a firmware flash can mess with how the gimbal holds its horizon reference. do it on a completely flat surface and go through the whole sequence properly, dont skip the steps where it asks you to tilt the aircraft. also make sure you refresh the firmware through dji assistant 2 on a computer rather than through the phone app, theres been cases where phone-side updates dont flash cleanly

if neither of those work honestly contact dji support before saturday because they can sometimes walk you through a forced reflash that the apps wont do automatically

this is exactly why i wait like two weeks before i update anything before a job. let other people find the bugs first. i know thats not helpful right now but seriously after getting burned once i just have a rule now - no updates within 10 days of anything that matters

hope you get it sorted, the IMU cal suggestion above is worth trying first
