so i was just scrolling through my feed this morning and saw DJI dropped info about their new lineup and honestly wasnt expecting it this soon after the mini 4 pro came out. feels like theyre just churning stuff out now. i get that competition with Autel and the whole situation with the US ban threats keeps pushing them to move fast but like... does anyone actually upgrade every single cycle or is it just me who holds onto gear for a few years and waits for something actually meaningfully different

also i saw something about new remote ID enforcement starting to get more serious in certain states, anyone been stopped or questioned while flying lately? i fly mostly parks and open fields and havent had any issues but a buddy of mine got hassled near a sports complex last weekend even though he was well outside any restricted zones

yeah i saw that too, i think the timing is partly because of the holiday push but also honestly DJI knows that if the ban talk heats up again they want as much product in the market as possible before anything gets complicated. i dont upgrade every cycle either, i skipped the mini 3 entirely and went straight to the mini 4 pro and that was already a big enough jump from what i had before. the remote ID thing is getting more real though, i ordered the broadcast module for my older bird just to have it sorted and it was easier to set up than i expected

im pretty new to all this so maybe a dumb question but does remote ID actually matter if youre just flying recreationally in like a random field with no one around? i registered my drone already but i dont really understand what remote ID is supposed to do differently. is it like a transponder thing? sorry if this is obvious stuff
