so ive been dealing with this for like two weeks now and its driving me insane. one of my rear motors on my 5inch freestyle build starts stuttering around 30-40% throttle, not every flight but maybe 3 out of 5. it'll smooth out if i punch it past like 60% which makes me think its not a dead winding or anything mechanical but honestly i dont really know.

ive already resoldered the motor leads to the ESC because one joint looked a little cold, didnt fix it. swapped props thinking maybe a slight imbalance was causing feedback weirdness, also nothing. the ESC is a 4in1 so i cant just pull that one channel out easily which is annoying.

betaflight blackbox shows some weird desync-looking spikes on that motor output but i cant tell if the ESC is sending garbage or if the motor is reporting back wrong. running BLHeli_32 with bidirectional dshot enabled. anyone dealt with something like this before or should i just accept ive got a dying ESC channel

bidirectional dshot with a flaky motor connection will absolutely cause that kind of desync behavior, the ESC gets confused when the RPM telemetry comes back inconsistent. id try disabling bidirectional dshot temporarily just to see if the stutter goes away, if it does then you know its a signal integrity issue rather than the motor actually dying. could still be the motor bearings starting to go too though, spin it by hand slowly and feel for any gritty spots.

also worth checking the motor screws, had almost this exact issue on a build last year and one screw had vibrated loose just enough to cause intermittent contact weirdness with the frame grounding. took me forever to find it.

what motors are they? some of the cheaper 2306 size ones ive used have had issues with the stator laminations basically resonating at certain throttle points and it shows up in logs as exactly what youre describing. might just be a bad motor that works fine at high throttle because the resonance frequency shifts. idk just a thought, im not an ESC expert or anything
