so ive been flying for about 8 months now and i feel like my footage is getting better but something is still off compared to the stuff i see on youtube. like technically the drone is stable and theres no jitter or anything but the shots just dont have that... flow? i dont know how to describe it. everything looks kind of abrupt when i move between shots.

im shooting on a mini 3 pro, usually in normal mode not sport, and i do have the filters so exposure should be fine. i just feel like the shots feel robotic almost. do you think its more of a flying technique thing or is it something i can fix in editing? genuinely not sure where the problem is coming from.

honestly this was me about a year ago and i spent way too long thinking it was an editing problem when it was really a flying problem. the big thing that changed everything for me was slowing way down, like uncomfortably slow. when you watch cinematic drone footage it feels fast because of the landscape moving but the actual stick inputs are super subtle. try cutting your sensitivity down in the settings, i think on the mini 3 its called expo or sensitivity curves depending on firmware, and just practice moving the sticks like 10-15% max. the other thing is combining two movements at once, like a slow forward push while also slowly rotating, that compound movement is what gives it that floaty feeling people are going for. the choppy thing you mentioned between shots is almost definitely a transitions issue in the edit too tho, are you cutting on motion or cutting to a static frame?

yeah what he said about slow movements is spot on. also dont sleep on your shutter speed, the 180 degree rule makes a huge difference in how fluid things look. if your shutter is too high the motion looks kind of stiff and clinical even if the drone is moving smoothly. i noticed this immediately when i started using nd filters properly.
