so ive been messing around with the hyperlapse modes on my Air 3 for the past few weekends and honestly i cant figure out if my results are supposed to look this choppy or if something is off with my settings. im doing free hyperlapse mostly, usually around 15-20 min sessions, and the final video always looks a bit jittery especially when theres any wind at all.

i was shooting in auto exposure which maybe is the problem? read somewhere that you should use ND filters and manual exposure for smoother results but the ones i bought (the DJI branded ones that came in that little kit) dont seem to make much difference. maybe im not using the right ND for the conditions idk.

also not sure what interval setting people use. i had it on 2 seconds which felt right but maybe thats too short? the drone is a Air 3 with latest firmware, flying in pretty open areas so no obstacles or anything. just want that smooth cinematic look you see people getting on youtube but mine never looks quite right

the 2 second interval is probably your issue honestly. for longer sessions i usually go 3-5 seconds minimum, sometimes even higher depending on how slow the scene is changing. shorter intervals work ok for fast moving subjects but for anything where youre just watching clouds drift or whatever, you want more time between shots or it ends up looking rushed and jittery like you described.

also yeah ditch auto exposure for hyperlapse, thats almost certainly causing flicker. lock everything down manually ? ISO, shutter, aperture. the 180 degree shutter rule still applies so figure out your shutter speed first then pick the ND that gets you close to proper exposure. the DJI kit NDs are fine by the way, probably not the problem there.

oh man i had the exact same thing when i first started doing hyperlapses on mine. turned out i just had electronic shutter enabled and thats a big no-no for hyperlapse, causes all kinds of banding and weirdness especially in changing light. worth checking if you havent already. might not be your issue but it was mine for like two whole months before someone told me lol
