anyone actually compared the Autel Evo Lite+ to the DJI stuff at a similar price point

okay so this might be a slightly unpopular question around here since everyone seems to just default to DJI and i get it, the ecosystem is mature, the support is solid, whatever. but ive been looking at the Autel Evo Lite+ for a while now mostly because of the whole no geo-fencing thing and the aperture control at that price range is pretty uncommon.

i flew a friends Mini 3 last summer and loved it, but i keep reading that the Autel color science is actually really good out of camera and im someone who doesnt want to spend a ton of time in post. the main things i care about are image quality in decent light, flight time, and honestly reliability because ive had gear fail on me before at the worst times and it sticks with you.

not a lot of real world comparisons online that arent like two years old or clearly written by someone who got the drone for free. just curious if anyone here has actually put hands on both or made a similar decision recently.

the geo-fencing thing is real and its actually a bigger deal than people give it credit for. had a situation last spring where i needed to fly in an area that DJI would have locked me out of even with a proper authorization and the Autel just... let me fly. with that said the app experience compared to DJI Fly is noticeably rougher around the edges, some features feel half-baked and firmware updates have been inconsistent in my experience. the image quality is legitimately good though, variable aperture at that price is a genuine differentiator. i wouldnt call it better than DJI just different, the colors are warmer out of the box which some people love. if post processing isnt your thing thats probably a point in Autels favor but if you shoot log anyway it probably evens out

tbh the resale value question is something nobody talks about in these comparisons. DJI stuff holds its value way better if you ever want to upgrade or sell. bought an Evo a while back, cant remember which version, and when i went to sell it the market was just... not there the same way. something to factor in if you tend to upgrade gear regularly like i do
