just got my first real freestyle quad, been flying tiny whoops for like 8 months and finally pulled the trigger on a 5inch. im comfortable enough in the air but i have no idea where to even start with actual tricks. tried a split s the other day and nearly binned it into a fence. do most people start with rolls and flips or is there like a progression that makes more sense to follow

rolls first 100%. just go up high somewhere with open space and do nothing but rolls until theyre automatic. then flips. then split s once you trust yourself not to panic at the bottom. the mistake everyone makes is trying to link stuff together before the individual moves feel boring, and they should feel boring before you move on

honestly i just started doing whatever looked cool in videos and crashed a lot lmao. split s is actually not that bad once you get the timing, the thing that got me was trying to do it too close to the ground obviously. power loops took me way longer than i expected, kept either stalling at the top or just doing a really ugly loop. sick that youre making the jump to 5inch though, tiny whoop skills transfer more than people say
