so im heading to costa rica for three weeks and obviously bringing the mavic. ive been trying to figure out the rules there and its honestly a nightmare to find clear info. from what i can tell you need some kind of permit from the DGAC but half the sites i find are in spanish and google translate only gets me so far. anyone actually flown there recently and knows whats current? especially around the osa peninsula area, i know theres a lot of national park land and i assume thats a no-go but not sure where the lines are exactly.

yeah flew there about a year ago, the permit thing is real but honestly most people just dont bother and nothing happens. that said i wouldnt risk it near any of the parks, rangers take that stuff seriously especially in corcovado. the beach areas outside the parks were fine, nobody looked twice at me. just keep it low and away from the lodge areas and youll probably be fine.

not costa rica but i went to panama last year and the rules were similarly confusing. ended up just not flying in any area that looked remotely protected and it worked out. also make sure your insurance covers the drone internationally, mine didnt and i only found out when i was already there which was a fun moment lol
