okay so this might be a long post, bear with me. ive been shooting with the mavic 3 cine for about a year and a half and honestly for 95% of jobs its totally fine. the hasselblad sensor does a good job, the 4/3 chip handles dynamic range better than i expected and the built in ND system saves a ton of time on run and gun stuff. but i keep running into that 5% where a client wants a specific look or a tighter focal length and im just stuck.

ive been looking at the inspire 3 with the x9-8 and the interchangeable lens options and obviously the image quality jump is real but the whole system is just so much more to manage ? different lenses to carry, balance changes every time, more preflight steps, way more expensive if something goes wrong. a friend of mine runs an inspire 2 with the x7 and swears it changed his business but he also has a full crew and isnt usually doing solo ops.

i mostly do real estate, some commercial, occasional narrative stuff when it comes up. not sure if the flexibility actually translates to enough value for my workflow or if im just convincing myself i need it. would genuinely like to hear from people who made this kind of jump.

made this exact switch about two years ago, inspire 2 with x7. honestly for real estate i think the mavic 3 cine is probably the smarter tool ? you dont need the overhead. where the interchangeable system starts making real sense is when you're doing stuff that actually demands different focal lengths in the same shoot, like narrative work where you need a 50mm equiv look vs a wide establishing, and you can land and swap. for commercial real estate though the 24mm equiv on the mavic 3 is what you want 90% of the time anyway. i'd say unless the narrative side of your work grows significantly it might not be worth the operational complexity for solo ops.

the x9-8 footage is genuinely on another level i wont lie. shot alongside someone using one on a commercial last month and the raw files they were pulling were kind of ridiculous. but yeah the inspire 3 system as a solo operator is a lot. two batteries just for the aircraft, then lens cases, the whole gimbal balance dance every time... its not a small thing to take on. id say rent one for a job before you commit to buying, see if it actually changes how you work or if you spend the whole shoot wishing you just brought the mavic
