mini 3 pro vs air 3 ? is the price difference actually worth it for a casual weekend flyer

so ive been going back and forth on this for like three weeks now and i just need someone to talk me off a ledge or push me over it. i currently have an old mavic mini that i got second hand and it does the job but the image quality is starting to bother me when i look at my footage next to what other people are posting.

the mini 3 pro seems like the obvious upgrade ? similar size, obstacle avoidance now, way better camera than what i have. but then i look at the air 3 and the dual cameras plus longer flight time have me second guessing everything. the price jump is real though, like we're talking another $200-250 depending on where you look and whether you go combo or not.

i mostly fly on weekends, some hiking trips, occasional family stuff. not doing paid work or anything like that. does the air 3 actually make a difference for someone like me or am i just falling into the gear acquisition trap again

honestly for casual weekend flying the mini 3 pro is probably fine and i say that as someone who owns the air 3. the dual camera thing on the air 3 sounds amazing on paper but i use the medium tele lens maybe once every few flights, its not a game changer for most situations. what IS noticeably better is the air 3's low light performance and the battery life difference is real ? you get maybe 5-7 more minutes per battery which adds up on a hiking day when you dont want to swap constantly.

that said if weight matters to you at all (and for hiking it probably does) the mini 3 pro staying under 250g is genuinely useful depending on where you fly. so i guess it depends on your country and local regs too. where are you based?

im in kind of the same boat lol, been watching youtube reviews for weeks. from everything ive seen the mini 3 pro is really solid for what most people actually do. the air 3 feels like its aimed at people who are more serious about getting really cinematic stuff or doing longer sessions. for family videos and hiking i think youd be happy with the mini 3 pro and have money left over for extra batteries which honestly matters more than people think
