so ive been running an inspire 2 with the X7 for a couple years now, mostly doing commercial stuff and some doc work, and ive been seriously considering making the jump to the inspire 3 with the X9-8K Air. the thing is the cost difference is pretty brutal and i cant figure out if the actual image quality jump justifies it for the kind of work i do.
the X7 has been rock solid for me honestly, super sharp, the color science is decent once you grade it, and clients have never complained. but ive started losing bids to people who are marketing the inspire 3 setup and i think some of it is just the spec sheet conversation in pre-production meetings. like the 8K thing matters even when the deliverable is 4K because clients feel safer somehow.
anyone actually done a proper a/b between the two rigs in real production conditions? not lab tests, like actual outdoor shoots with varying light situations. curious especially about the dynamic range difference in practice and whether the wider color gamut is noticeable after a proper grade.
