been running a custom 5inch freestyle setup for about two years now, mostly Speedybee F7 stacks and whatever motors were on sale, and ive gotten pretty comfortable with the whole build process. im wanting to do something different ? more of a long range cruiser type thing, maybe 7inch or even push to 10inch eventually, focused on smooth cinematic flying and just covering distance rather than throwing it around.

i've been looking at Diatone and Flywoo frames specifically because they both have options in that cruiser/efficiency space and both seem to have decent communities behind them. the Flywoo Explorer stuff looks interesting but ive also heard some people say the carbon quality on their frames isnt as good as it looks in photos. Diatone on the other hand i have more experience with but mostly their freestyle oriented stuff, not sure how their longer range frames hold up.

this isnt really a beginner question, im more just trying to get some real world experience from people who have actually run one of these setups and can tell me where the annoyances are. parts availability, arm durability, that kind of thing. any strong opinions welcome.

ran a Flywoo Explorer LR4 for almost a year and the carbon quality thing is... partially true? the main plate is fine but the arm thickness is on the thinner side and i did snap one after a pretty bad crash into a tree. not a catastrophic failure but something to be aware of if youre flying in tight spots. that said for genuine long range cruising where youre not throwing it into trees it holds up totally fine and the weight savings are real, that frame is light. parts are available directly from flywoo but shipping times from china are what they are.

havent used Diatone for anything in the long range space so cant compare directly, but Diatone's tolerances on their machined parts have always seemed tighter to me from handling both. just an impression not a data point.

slightly off topic but have you considered just building on a TBS Source One or similar open source frame instead of going brand? for a 7inch cruiser build the Source One 7 is stupid cheap, parts are everywhere, and the community support is massive because so many people run it. sometimes the brand comparison thing leads you to overlook the obvious option. just a thought, both of those brands you mentioned are fine though.
