so ive had my Mavic 3 for about 8 months now and i swear the gimbal drift was never this bad before the last firmware push. what happens is ill set up a slow pan shot, everything looks level on the screen, but when i pull the footage into resolve the horizon is just... slowly rotating. like maybe half a degree over 30 seconds but its still enough to ruin the shot if youre doing any kind of wide landscape stuff.

ive done the gimbal calibration probably four times now, tried it on flat surfaces, tried the auto calibration, recalibrated the IMU twice. nothing seems to stick. the weird thing is it only seems noticeable when im hovering in any kind of wind, even light wind. still shots are fine. its specifically the slow movement or hover scenarios where it creeps.

anyone else seeing this after the last update or am i just noticing something that was always there and the update changed how sensitive the footage looks or something. i dont know. just frustrated because i have a client shoot next weekend

had the exact same issue after one of the earlier firmware updates on my Mini 3 Pro, different bird i know but same gimbal architecture roughly. what fixed it for me was doing a full refresh ? not just calibration but actually going into the app and doing a factory reset on the gimbal settings specifically, not the whole aircraft. theres a difference. the auto calibration DJI pushes you toward doesnt always reset the drift compensation offsets properly, it just layers new values on top of old ones which can compound weirdly.

also worth checking if your ND filters are seated perfectly flush. sounds unrelated but any tiny weight imbalance on the front of the gimbal can cause it to fight itself in wind. i wasted like two weeks thinking it was firmware before i realized one of my NDs had a slightly warped ring and wasnt sitting flat.

probably not the answer you want but this drift thing on the Mavic 3 has been in a few threads here over the past few months. some people say its firmware, some say its just the 3-axis gimbal showing its limits in turbulent air. i honestly cant tell if DJI made it worse or if people just started pixel peeping more. either way good luck with the client shoot, maybe just plan for some horizon correction in post as a backup just in case
