finally pulled the trigger on a prebuilt, thoughts after a few weeks

so ive been putting off getting into FPV for like two years now because every time i start researching it turns into this massive rabbit hole of what FC to use, what motors, soldering iron recommendations etc etc. finally just said forget it and ordered a Diatone Roma F5 V2 like three weeks ago and honestly... pretty happy with it so far

out of the box it flew okay but definitely needed some work on the rates and filters. the stock tune felt a little mushy on quick direction changes, not terrible but you could tell it wasnt dialed in. spent an evening running RPM filters through Betaflight and messing with the D term and its flying way better now. not like a custom build youve spent weeks on but genuinely solid for what it is

props that came with it were garbage by the way, swapped to HQProp 5x4.8x3 and that made a pretty big difference too. anyone else running this frame or similar diatone stuff? curious what tunes people landed on

yeah the stock tune on basically every prebuilt ive ever touched has been underwhelming, i think they just set it up to be safe and not flip out on some beginner who doesnt know whats happening. the Roma F5 frame itself is decent though, seen a few guys running it with pretty aggressive tunes no problem. what pid numbers did you end up at roughly? im always curious what people settle on for 5inch freestyle

I went through the same thing last year and ended up with a Nazgul Evoque F5 V2. had a similar experience where it was flyable but not exciting until I put some time into tuning it. one thing that helped me a lot was just loading a community preset from the Betaflight presets tab, theres a few decent ones for 5inch freestyle that got me like 80% of the way there before i started tweaking manually. might save you some time if you havent tried that already. also yeah throw those stock props immediately, that seems to be universal across prebuilts lol
