Landing pads are absolutely worth it for beach flying! Sand is one of the quickest ways to shorten the life of motors and gimbals. Even if you take off cleanly, sand kicked up during landing can still get everywhere. I learned this the hard way with my first drone. A basic foldable pad will save you expensive repairs down the road.

Honestly, I flew for 6 months without one and never had issues. Being able to take off and land using your hands means that you can fly from anywhere.
