so ive been flying my mavic 3 for about a year now and im still never sure when to just pack it up and go home vs push through the wind. like today there were gusts hitting maybe 25-28mph and i flew anyway, footage was pretty much garbage because of the micro jitter and i burned through battery way faster than usual just fighting to hold position.

i know the rated wind resistance is like 27mph sustained but gusts are a whole different thing. my question is do you guys have like a personal cutoff you just stick to regardless of what the spec sheet says? or is it more situational. i feel like ive been too stubborn about it and its costing me shots

honestly after a few years of this i just go by feel more than numbers. if im having to constantly correct and the gimbal is working overtime to compensate, thats usually my sign. the spec wind ratings are kinda generous in my experience, especially for any kind of smooth cinematic stuff. sustained 20mph i can usually work with depending on what im shooting, anything with real gusts above that and the footage just isnt worth it unless you absolutely need to get the shot.

also flying lower helps more than people think. wind is usually way calmer close to the ground or near treelines. not always an option but worth remembering.

25-28mph gusts with a mavic 3 sounds rough. i tried flying my mini 4 pro in similar conditions once and it was basically a nightmare, thing was getting pushed around constantly and sport mode was the only way to hold position which obviously made footage unusable. i think i need to just accept that wind days are not flying days for me at least until i get something heavier
