someone talk me out of buying the autel evo lite+ because i keep reading bad things about the app

ok so the camera specs on the evo lite+ genuinely look amazing for the price point, the variable aperture and the sensor size had me pretty much ready to click buy. but every time i dig into forums and reddit i see people complaining about the autel sky app being buggy and laggy compared to DJI fly and honestly that scares me a bit. im not a developer, i just want something that works reliably.

i currently have a mavic air 2 that i've been flying for about two years and it just... works. every time. the DJI ecosystem has kind of spoiled me i think. but the evo lite+ footage samples ive seen look genuinely gorgeous especially in that open aperture mode and part of me thinks people online always complain about apps more than they deserve.

has anyone here actually used the evo lite+ for a decent stretch of time, like not just unboxing impressions but actual regular flying? is the app situation as rough as people say or has it gotten better with updates? genuinely torn here

the app complaints are not exaggerated unfortunately. i borrowed a friends evo lite+ for a weekend trip and while the image quality was legitimately impressive the app disconnected on me twice during flights which is not something ive ever had with DJI. could be a one off, could be the specific phone i was using, but it definitely made me nervous in a way i dont feel flying my mini 3. autel has been improving things apparently but i dont think theyre at DJI's level of software polish yet and probably wont be for a while just due to resources

i've had mine for about eight months now and the app situation is... complicated. it was genuinely rough when i first got it, there were a couple firmware updates that made things worse before they got better which was frustrating. but where it sits now its mostly fine for my use. i still get the occasional weird lag on the live feed but its not constant and ive never had it do anything dangerous mid flight.

the footage though, man. shooting at f2.8 in that golden light is something else entirely and the noise handling at higher ISOs beats my old mavic air 2 pretty clearly. if you fly in controlled conditions and dont need active track to be rock solid i think its worth considering. if you do a lot of subject tracking or rely heavily on automated features id stick with DJI just because those modes work smoother. its really about what you prioritize
