DJI FPV goggles v2 with Avata ? worth it or just get the goggles 2

  • Members

so ive been flying the FPV drone for about 8 months now with the v2 goggles and honestly pretty happy but my buddy just got the Avata with goggles 2 and the difference in the screen is kind of making me jealous. like his just looks so much cleaner and the micro OLED or whatever it is feels way more immersive when i tried it at the field last weekend.

my question is basically whether its worth selling the v2 setup to get the goggles 2 bundle or if im just being gear hungry again. i mostly fly acro mode in the FPV and occasionally mess around with manual on the Avata when my buddy lets me try it. the latency feels about the same to me honestly but the image quality diff is real. anyone switched over and actually noticed a gameplay improvement or is it purely a looks thing

went through exactly this about 4 months ago. sold my v2 goggles and picked up goggles 2 to use with both the FPV drone and borrowed an Avata from a friend. the clarity difference is legit not just placebo, like small branches and wires are just more visible which actually matters when youre flying fast through trees. that said if youre doing mostly acro on the FPV i dunno if it changes your flying that much, the latency is roughly the same and muscle memory doesn't care about pixel density lol. probably depends what you can get for the v2 used right now, market's been soft lately

i just got the Avata combo with goggles 2 as my first fpv setup and cant really compare but the screen is genuinely incredible for someone coming from flatscreen flying. would not go back. but i also dont have anything to compare it to so take that for what its worth
