bit of a specific question but im looking at attaching a multispectral sensor to an Inspire 2 for some agricultural survey work. i know the platform wasnt really designed with that in mind but the flight time and stability are actually pretty solid for what i need and i already own the airframe.

the issue is the gimbal port is obviously built around the Zenmuse lineup and im not really finding a clean way to mount anything else without it looking like a complete hack job. has anyone actually done this or am i better off just getting something like a Matrice for this kind of application. feel like the M300 is probably the right answer but ive already got the I2 sitting there

yeah honestly the Matrice series is just the right tool for payload flexibility. the I2 is a cinema platform, DJI never really intended it for sensor swapping beyond the Zenmuse stuff and the mounting system reflects that. ive seen people bodge third party sensors onto it with custom plates but the CG goes all over the place and you lose the active vibration dampening which kind of defeats the purpose for survey data quality.

if you already have survey contracts lined up the M300 or even the older M210 would be way less headache. the payload interface is actually designed for this and you get proper SDK access for the sensor triggers which matters a lot for multispectral consistency.

tried something similar a while back, different sensor but same idea of using what i already had. it sort of worked but the data quality was inconsistent enough that i ended up just renting an M300 for the actual deliverable shoots. the Inspire airframe vibrates differently depending on wind and the non-dampened mount made the imagery pretty noisy in post. not saying it cant be done but the time i spent fiddling with it was probably worth more than the rental cost would have been
