so im heading to Costa Rica for three weeks and obviously bringing the mavic. ive been reading conflicting stuff about the rules there ? some sites say you need to register with DGAC, some say its fine under 25kg just fly and dont bother. anyone actually done it recently and knows whats current? last thing i want is to get it confiscated at the airport or have some ranger yell at me at a national park.

also curious if the humidity messes with anything, planning to fly near some waterfalls and cloud forest areas which sounds amazing but now im second guessing bringing it at all

went last year, flew around manuel antonio and the osa peninsula. honestly the registration thing is real but almost nobody checks, i registered online just to have the paperwork on my phone in case anyone asked. national parks are a hard no though, at least officially ? i tried to fly near the park boundary and a ranger came out of nowhere and was pretty annoyed even though i was technically outside. cloud forest was incredible but yeah the moisture is no joke, my lens fogged up within like 20 minutes of being near the waterfall area. let it sit in the bag for a bit before flying and it was fine after that

the humidity thing is real, i had the same issue in vietnam near some river areas. just give it time to acclimate when you move between environments, dont go straight from an air conditioned car to flying near a waterfall. probably obvious but i learned that the hard way lol
