EVO Nano keeps losing connection randomly ? anyone dealt with this

  • Members

this has been bugging me for a couple months now and im at the point where I dont know if its a hardware problem or if im doing something wrong. Basically my Nano will just drop signal for a second or two and then reconnect, happens at varying distances, sometimes close sometimes further out. Doesnt seem to be related to how far I am from it.

Ive tried different phones, made sure the app is updated, and I even did a full reset at some point. Flying in a pretty open area mostly, not a lot of buildings or interference that I can think of. It reconnects fast enough that I havent had any scary moments but its just not something I want to rely on and it's kind of killed my confidence in the thing a bit.

Running the latest firmware as of last week. Anyone else seen this or have any idea what could cause it

Had something similar with mine a while back. Turned out my phone case was partially blocking the antennas on the controller ? sounds dumb but once I took the case off it basically went away. Also worth checking if there's any 2.4GHz WiFi congestion in the area you're flying, the Nano uses that band and depending on where you are it can get messy. If you have an option in the app to switch transmission channels manually try playing with that.

If none of that helps it might genuinely be a hardware thing and Autel's support is actually decent from what I've seen, people seem to have good experiences getting replacements or repairs through them compared to some other brands.

not sure about the connection drops specifically but I'll say the Nano in general feels like it's right at the edge of what the hardware can handle sometimes. Its a great little drone for the price but I sometimes wonder if they pushed the specs a bit aggressively for the size. Might just be my experience though. Hope you get it sorted, that kind of intermittent stuff is the worst to diagnose
