keeps dropping connection mid flight and i have no idea why

so this has been driving me insane for about two weeks now. im flying my mini 3 pro and somewhere between 200-400m out it just drops RC link for like 2-3 seconds then reconnects. doesnt always happen but when it does its enough to make my heart stop. no RTH triggered or anything, just a brief disconnect then it comes back like nothing happened.

ive tried recharging both the RC2 and the drone, updated firmware, moved to a different flying spot thinking maybe it was interference but same thing happened at my local park too. signal bars look fine right up until the dropout. never had this on my previous mini 2 at the same spots.

anyone seen this before? not sure if its a hardware fault or something with the o3 transmission or just interference i havent figured out yet

had almost the exact same thing on my air 2s last year. turned out there was a cell tower about 800m away that was running on a frequency that was just wrecking the 2.4ghz band at certain times of day. switched the RC to force 5.8ghz and the dropouts basically stopped. worth trying if you havent already, the auto mode sometimes picks the wrong band at the worst times.

also double check there's nothing weird going on with your phone or tablet if youre using one, ive seen people have dropouts caused by their phone swapping between wifi networks in the background which is just maddening

not 100% sure but i think the RC2 antenna orientation matters more than people realise? like if the drone is at a certain angle relative to the controller the null point of the antenna lines up and signal tanks. i read about this somewhere on the DJI forums. try keeping the controller antennas perpendicular to the direction of the drone and see if the pattern changes at all
