my quad feels sluggish on rolls and i cant figure out why

so ive been trying to get my 5inch dialed in for freestyle for like 3 weeks now and the rolls just feel... heavy? like its not snapping the way i see guys do in videos. im running stock betaflight rates basically, changed a few things but nothing dramatic. motors are 2306 2450kv on 6s, props are hq 5x4.3 i think. the quad flies fine otherwise, just doesnt have that crisp pop on the roll axis that makes tricks look clean. idk if its a rates thing or pid thing or what. kinda lost

rates man, almost definitely rates. stock betaflight rates are set up for like cinematic or something, not freestyle snapping. try bumping your roll rate up and dropping the expo a bit so it stays linear in the center. everyone has different preferences but id start there before touching pids. also what does your rc_rate and expo look like right now?

i had the exact same thing when i started, felt like flying a school bus lol. for me it was actually a combo of rates AND the fact that my D term was too high, quad was kind of fighting itself. worth checking your filtering too if you havent already, heavy filtering can make it feel really delayed and mushy even if your pids are okayish
