ok so i've been flying dji for about two years and honestly the video quality is great but i keep seeing people talk about how analog is more fun to fly and the latency feels different or whatever. my buddy let me try his fatshark dominators with a raceband vtx and yeah it felt snappier but i genuinely couldnt tell if that was placebo or real. anyway im thinking about picking up a set of used fatsharks or maybe the skyzone 04x because i heard those have better reception and the diversity antennas are solid.

main thing im worried about is range. i fly mostly proximity stuff in a field near my house so range isnt a huge deal but i do occasionally go out to open areas and push distance a bit. also what vtx are you guys running with analog goggles these days ? i see a lot of people on the rushfpv stuff and the tramp hv but i dont know if that price difference is worth it for how i fly.

not really looking to spend more than like 200 on goggles used, does that get me anything decent or am i just buying someones headache

the latency thing is real, not placebo. analog has basically zero perceivable delay end to end if your vtx and camera are set up right, whereas dji has that small but consistent delay that some people just get used to. for proximity flying it probably wont matter but once you start going faster you notice it.

for 200 bucks used you can definitely find a decent set of dominators or attitude v6s, just check if the modules are included because the bare goggles are kinda useless without a receiver module and those are another 50-80 depending on what you get. rapidfire module is what most people run, does diversity between two antennas and handles multipath way better than a single antenna setup. pair that with a pagoda omni and a lollipop and youre good for most flying.

vtx wise ? the rush tank and the tramp are both solid but honestly for the flying you described the rush solo or even an aikon vtx does fine. tramp is nice for pit mode control over smartaudio but its not like night and day in actual video quality.

skyzone 04x is genuinely good for the money, i picked one up earlier this year and the oled screens make a noticeable difference vs the lcd panels on cheaper goggles. steady image, colors look right, not washed out. only thing is they run a bit warm after a while but nothing crazy.

one thing nobody told me when i switched ? your antenna setup matters way more than i expected. i was running stock antennas for like two months and wondered why i was getting breakup even at medium range, swapped to a pair of lollipop 4s and it was completely different. dont cheap out on the antennas basically
