ok so ive been dealing with this for like 3 weeks now and its driving me insane. flying my Mavic 3 and the signal just cuts out, not fully disconnects but goes into that critical signal warning and the drone switches to return to home on its own. happens mostly around 400-600m out which shouldnt be an issue at all for this bird.

already tried the obvious stuff ? switched from auto to manual channel selection on the RC, tried both 2.4 and 5.8ghz, checked for obvious interference sources. i fly at a field outside town, not exactly downtown manhattan. the weird part is it doesnt happen every flight, maybe every third or fourth one. and when it does happen it usually recovers after like 10-15 seconds but by then RTH has kicked in and im just watching it fly home annoyed.

running latest firmware, RC2 controller, nothing weird installed. anyone seen this kind of intermittent thing before? im starting to wonder if its the controller itself because ive seen a couple posts about RC2 antenna issues

had something similar with my mini 3 pro a while back, turned out there was a cellular tower about 800m from my field that apparently got a new antenna array installed and just wrecked the 5.8 band in that whole area. switched permanently to 2.4 and the problem basically went away. worth checking if anything changed near your spot infrastructure wise.

also the RC2 antenna orientation matters more than people think ? if youre holding the controller with the antennas pointing straight up and the drone is directly in front of you thats actually close to a null zone for signal. angling them slightly outward so they form like a shallow V shape with the drone between them makes a real difference at distance. sounds dumb but it helped me consistently.

the intermittent part is the tell honestly. consistent signal loss is usually environment. intermittent like yours sounds more like a hardware thing or loose connection somewhere. i had an RC-N1 that did something similar and it was a slightly loose antenna connector internally, like physically inside the controller. dji replaced it under warranty no questions. might be worth hitting up support if its the RC2 since those arent cheap to just swap out
