mini 4 pro keeps drifting sideways even indoors ? is this normal??

  • Members

so ive had my mini 4 pro for about 3 weeks now and i noticed when i hover it inside my living room it slowly drifts to the left almost every time. doesnt matter if i recalibrate the IMU or not it still does it. outside its less noticeable but still there if i pay attention. i fly in normal mode mostly. i did the compass calibration thing when i first got it and havent done it since. is this just a downward vision sensor thing because of my floors? my floors are like a dark hardwood and i read somewhere that can mess with it. or is something actually wrong with it

yeah dark floors will absolutely mess with the optical flow sensors, they need texture and contrast to lock on properly. try hovering over something with a pattern on it, like a rug or even just put a piece of cardboard with some tape on it underneath and see if the drift stops. if it does, thats your answer. also make sure youre not too close to any AC vents or fans, i had a similar issue and spent like two days thinking my bird was broken before i realized i was flying right under a ceiling fan lol

mine did something kind of similar when i first got it, turned out i just hadnt updated the firmware and also hadnt let it sit long enough after turning on for the IMU to settle. i usually wait like 30-45 seconds before i take off now and its way more stable. not sure if that fixes your exact problem but worth trying before you send it in
