this has been bugging me for a while and i finally decided to just ask here because i cant figure it out. my Nano+ drops signal and gives me a warning way earlier than the specs suggest it should. like i'm talking maybe 400-500 meters out in open areas with no obvious interference and it starts getting sketchy. i've seen other people fly these things way further without issues.

i'm in a suburban area so there's definitely some wifi noise but i wouldnt think it's that bad. i've tried switching the frequency in the app but it doesn't seem to make a huge difference. the remote batteries are always charged. firmware is up to date as far as i know.

not sure if i have a defective unit or if i'm missing something obvious. anyone dealt with this?

check how you're holding the remote ? sounds dumb but the antenna orientation matters more than people realize on these smaller remotes. the antennas need to be pointed roughly perpendicular to the drone, not aimed at it. i was having similar range issues with mine and that was literally the whole problem, i was just holding the thing wrong.

also worth checking if there are any metal objects nearby when you launch, sometimes people set the remote down on a car hood or whatever and it can mess with things more than you'd expect. if none of that helps it might be worth contacting Autel support, they're actually pretty responsive from my experience with them.

suburban interference is no joke honestly. i live in a pretty dense neighborhood and i had to basically learn which days and times were better for flying. weekends are terrible near me because everyones routers and smart home stuff is going nuts. might not be your unit at all. that said 400 meters does seem low even accounting for that.
