mini 3 pro keeps drifting in hover, is this normal??

  • Members

so ive had my mini 3 pro for about 3 weeks now and i keep noticing that when i let go of the sticks it doesnt just stay put, it kind of drifts a little before it catches itself. mostly happens when theres any wind at all but even indoors it does it a tiny bit. i calibrated the IMU twice already and it didnt really help. flew it at the park yesterday and it was drifting maybe like 2 feet before stabilizing which kind of freaks me out near trees.

is this just how these smaller drones are or is something actually wrong with mine. my friend has a mavic 3 and he says his just locks in place but i dont know if thats just because its heavier or whatever

yeah totally normal for the mini series honestly, they're so light that any breeze is gonna push them around a bit before the GPS lock compensates. the mavic 3 thing your friend said is probably true just because mass helps with stability in wind. 2 feet of drift before it catches sounds within normal range to me but if its doing it completely indoors with no air movement at all that might be worth looking at more closely. have you tried recalibrating the compass too, not just the IMU? sometimes that makes a difference, especially if you flew near anything magnetic recently

i had the same thing and panicked lol. turned out i was flying in sport mode by accident for like the first week and didnt realize it handles differently. probably not your issue but worth checking what mode youre in
