EVO II keeps losing signal way sooner than it should??

  • Members

been having this issue for a few weeks now and its driving me nuts. flying in open areas, nothing crazy, and i start getting signal warnings and the drone returnng to home at like 800 meters sometimes even less. this didnt used to happen, range was totally fine before.

im on the standard EVO II, not the pro or enterprise version. haven't changed anything that i can think of, maybe a firmware update happened automatically at some point but i honestly cant remember. controller antennas are pointed the right way, ive tried different locations thinking maybe interference but same thing happens.

anyone dealt with this or know what might cause it to get worse suddenly

this happened to me a while back and it turned out to be a firmware thing ? there was an update that changed some of the signal behavior and a bunch of people on the Autel subreddit were complaining about it around the same time. worth checking what version you're on and seeing if rolling back is an option, though Autel makes that a little annoying to do. also just to double check the obvious stuff ? are you in FCC mode or CE mode? CE mode will choke your range significantly and sometimes it can get reset after an update depending on your region settings.

could also just be the controller itself starting to have issues. ive seen posts where people had similar symptoms and it turned out one of the antenna connections inside the controller had worked itself loose. not something most people want to open up themselves but if its out of warranty anyway might be worth looking into. Autel support is actually pretty responsive from what i've heard, more so than some other brands, might be worth just contacting them directly and describing the issue
