so im heading to Iceland in about 5 weeks and obviously bringing the mavic. ive been reading up on the rules there and its honestly kind of confusing, like there are zones around reykjavik that are restricted but outside of that it seems pretty open? not totally sure though

anyone flown there before or know what the actual deal is with permits and stuff. i dont want to get my drone confiscated at the border or whatever. also wondering if the wind is as bad as people say because ive seen some footage from there that looks totally calm but then other people say it was brutal the whole trip

flew there two summers ago, wind is absolutely no joke especially near the coast and around the south. like i had days where i just didnt bother taking it out because it was gusting 40+ and i wasnt going to risk it. the interior highlands were actually way more manageable in my experience

for rules i just downloaded the isavia app before i went, it shows the restricted zones and honestly most of the cool stuff like waterfalls and lava fields is fine to fly. just stay away from the airports and some of the national park areas have their own restrictions so check those individually before you go out there

dont forget to check if your insurance covers flying abroad, caught me off guard when i went to norway last year lol
