so ive been using litchi for probably 2 years now mostly for automated waypoint stuff with my mini 3 pro and honestly its been fine but a few guys in my local group keep pushing dronelink and i cant really figure out what the big deal is. like i watched a few videos and it seems like more or less the same thing? both let you set waypoints, adjust altitude, gimbal pitch etc. the interface on dronelink looks a bit more clinical i guess.

the one thing i will say is litchi has been a little flaky since the last android update on my s23, sometimes the map tiles just dont load and i have to restart the whole app which is annoying mid-planning session. maybe thats whats pushing me to actually look at alternatives. does dronelink handle offline maps any better? thats kind of a dealbreaker for me since i fly in some spots with basically zero signal

dronelink's offline map situation is honestly a bit better in my experience but you have to remember to pre-cache the tiles before you head out, it doesnt do it automatically. i flew a fairly complex linear mission over a reservoir last month and the planning side of dronelink is way more granular once you get into it ? you can do things with camera triggers and conditional actions that litchi just doesnt support. but if youre doing basic waypoint stuff the difference is probably not worth switching for. the android stability thing is real though, litchi has been rough lately

i switched to dronelink about 6 months ago and havent looked back but i also fly a lot of inspection work so the structured mission templates actually matter to me. for recreational stuff or even basic real estate shots litchi is probably fine. one thing nobody mentions is dronelinks free tier is pretty limited so depending on what you need you might hit a wall pretty fast
