Complete newbie here and trying to figure out which drone to get as my first one. Budget is around $400-500 max. I've been reading about DJI Mini 4 Pro vs Potensic Atom 2 and getting conflicted info everywhere.

Main use would be travel photography and some basic video for family stuff. Don't need anything too fancy but want decent 4K quality. Also heard about the DJI ban stuff - should I be worried about that affecting my choice?

Any honest opinions from people who actually own these would be super helpful!

For your budget and needs, the DJI Mini 4 Pro is still the gold standard - best camera quality and most reliable performance in that range. The ban only affects federal procurement, not personal use, so you're totally fine buying DJI.

Actually consider the Potensic Atom 2 at $330 - it's genuinely competitive with 4K video, 3-axis gimbal, and 38-minute flight time. DJI's gimbal is smoother, but for travel and family videos the Atom 2 absolutely gets the job done and saves you money.

Started with a Mini 4 Pro last year and love it! Definitely get extra batteries though - you'll want at least 2-3 total. The obstacle avoidance has saved me from several crashes already. Super beginner-friendly once you get the hang of it.
