so i bought a dji mini 2 like three weeks ago and honestly i still feel completely lost. i watched a bunch of youtube videos before buying it and thought id be fine but the first time i took it out i almost crashed it into my neighbors fence within like 30 seconds. managed to land it but my hands were shaking the whole time.

i guess my question is... is there like a proper way to learn this or do you just keep flying until it clicks? i dont really know what drills to practice or if i should just be going out and flying around. also should i be using sport mode or just leaving it in normal mode for now. someone told me to use the simulator but i dont even know where to find that for the mini 2

normal mode, always, until you can hover in place without drifting all over the place and land without thinking about it. sport mode removes a lot of the safety braking and if something goes wrong your reaction time just wont be there yet. i see so many beginners switch to sport mode because its fun and then wonder why they crashed into a tree.

for the simulator thing, the dji fly app doesnt actually have a built in simulator for the mini 2 as far as i know, but there are third party options. honestly though just go to a big empty field and fly low and slow. like under 10 feet for the first few sessions. learn to hover, then figure out how the controls feel when youre oriented away from yourself because thats where most people get confused. when the drone is facing you, left and right on the stick feel reversed and that messes people up bad.

omg i was exactly like this when i started lol. the fence thing happened to me too except i actually did clip mine on a bush and freaked out completely. what helped me honestly was just going out a lot, like every other day even if only for 20 minutes. it just kind of becomes muscle memory after a while. dont be too hard on yourself, it feels weird for everyone at first i think
