what cases are people actually using for mini 3 pro travel

  • Members

so ive been going back and forth on this for weeks now and i cant decide. i have the mini 3 pro with the RC controller and i want something i can throw in a backpack but also trust it wont get destroyed if my bag gets tossed around in an overhead bin or whatever. the dji fly more combo bag that came with it is fine but its really just a soft pouch and honestly feels a bit flimsy for actual travel.

ive been looking at the lykus titan cases and also the skyreat hardshell but theres so many options on amazon and half the reviews seem fake. does anyone actually use a proper hardshell case for a mini 3? wondering if its overkill for something that small or if its worth it for peace of mind

i went through this exact thing last year before a trip to portugal. ended up getting one of those pelican 1510 style cases with custom foam and yeah its overkill but i have zero regrets. fits the drone, both batteries, rc controller, nd filters, all of it and i just checked it at the airport. never going back to soft cases for flying trips honestly.

the lykus ones are decent from what i remember reading but i dont have personal experience with them. just make sure whatever you get has pressure equalization valves if youre flying with it, some of the cheaper ones dont and that can be a pain at altitude

I use the Torvol Quad Pitstop backpack and it has a dedicated drone compartment that holds my mini 3 pro fine with the RC. not a hardshell obviously but the padding is actually really solid and ive had it thrown around on a few camping trips no issues. might be worth looking at if you want something that doubles as an actual hiking bag rather than just a drone case
