so i binned my 5inch pretty hard into a concrete barrier at the track last weekend, classic me trying to push the gap too early in the session. front left arm snapped clean off at the base and the motor that was on it is just... done. shaft is bent, bell spins but you can feel it grinding and when i put a prop on and spin it up on the bench its vibrating like crazy and pulling like 4 amps at idle which is obviously not right.

the frame itself is a hyperlite flatpak v2 and ive been trying to figure out if its worth ordering replacement arms or just starting fresh. the mainplate looks okay i think, no visible cracks, but im a little paranoid about hairline stuff i cant see. been running this frame for maybe 8 months so its not exactly new.

the motor is a brotherhobby returner r5 2306 and i think i can get a replacement for like 18 bucks shipped so that part isnt a huge deal. mostly just wondering if anyone has dealt with the flatpak arms specifically, are they easy to swap or is it one of those things where you end up needing to rerun all your wiring anyway

flatpak arms are actually pretty straightforward to swap if the mainplate is okay. four screws per arm usually and the motor wires have enough slack that you dont have to touch the stack at all, at least on the v2. i did this exact thing twice last season. just check where the arm meets the plate really carefully, sometimes theres a stress fracture that runs inward and you wont see it till you flex it a bit. hold it up to a light and look from the underside.

on the motor yeah 4 amps at idle with a bent shaft is cooked, dont even bother trying to true it. just swap it. brotherhobby are easy to find and at that price point its not worth the headache. while youre in there check your esc too because a locked up or grinding motor can sometimes spike enough to take out the esc phase, happened to me with a similar crash.

ive heard the flatpak is pretty repairable but never owned one personally. what speed were you going when you hit? asking because ive had crashes at speed where the frame looked fine and then i found a crack in the stack plate like two sessions later when something started acting weird. might be worth just pressing on the mainplate a little to check for flex it shouldnt have
