mini 3 pro keeps drifting sideways indoors??

  • Members

so ive had my mini 3 pro for about 3 months now and mostly fly it outside without issues but yesterday i tried hovering it in my living room just for fun and it kept slowly drifting to the left no matter what i did. i calibrated the IMU before flying and compass too i think. is this just a downward vision sensor thing or is something actually wrong with it. outdoor flights seem totally fine which is why im confused

yeah this is pretty normal actually, indoors the vision positioning system can get confused depending on your floor surface. like if you have a plain carpet or shiny hardwood it sometimes struggles to find reference points and just drifts. nothing wrong with your drone most likely. try flying it over something with more texture or pattern on the ground and see if it holds better. also make sure theres decent lighting in the room, VPS really doesn't like low light situations.

i had the same thing happen with my mini 2 SE when i first got it and panicked lol. turned out my living room floor is just too uniform. the sensors kinda need something to lock onto visually. outside it uses gps so it holds fine but inside it's all on those bottom sensors. some people put a textured mat down which sounds weird but apparently helps
