DJI FPV drone keeps drifting in normal mode - tried recalibrating everything

  • Members

this has been bugging me for a while and I'm kind of at a loss. the drone drifts noticeably to the left in normal mode, not in sport mode weirdly enough, and I've done the IMU calibration twice, compass calibration, even re-paired the motion controller which I thought maybe was the issue

its not massive drift like its going to fly into something but its just enough that any slow cinematic shots look terrible because you can see the correction happening. I'm running the latest firmware I updated like 3 weeks ago. wind isnt the issue because I've reproduced it indoors in a large space

anyone seen this before or have a direction to point me in because I'm running out of obvious things to check

check your motor screws, sounds dumb but one of mine came slightly loose and caused almost exactly this. also worth looking at whether any of the props have micro cracks, even a tiny chip on one blade will cause this kind of asymetric drift especially at lower throttle which is what normal mode tends to use more of

if thats all fine id actually try a full factory reset because sometimes the calibration data just gets corrupted after firmware updates and starting fresh fixes stuff that repeated recals wont

had something similar after the 01.01.06 update, turned out to be a gimbal alignment issue of all things, the stabilization was fighting itself trying to correct for something. dji support actually walked me through a manual gimbal recalibration that isnt in the normal menu and it sorted it out. might be worth hitting them up if nothing else works, their chat support has actually been decent lately in my experience
